Privacy Policy
Last updated March 26, 2026
This privacy policy describes what data What Game You Bringing? (“the app”) collects, why, and how you can control it. The app is made by Ben Powers (“I”, “me”) in Berkeley, California.
What the app collects
Feature-usage analytics (Mixpanel)
The app uses Mixpanel to record which features are used — for example, that someone opened the filter sheet or subscribed. This helps me decide what to build next.
What Mixpanel receives:
- Which screens and features you use, and when
- Device type and OS version
Mixpanel does not receive:
- Any name, email, or account identifier
- Your location
- BoardGameGeek usernames
- Any persistent unique device identifier — Mixpanel’s session identifiers cycle regularly
I’ve configured Mixpanel so that it does not store your IP address.
Mixpanel’s own privacy policy is at mixpanel.com/legal/privacy-policy. Mixpanel does not share your data with further parties.
You can opt out at any time by turning off “Send Usage Data” in Settings. When opted out, no data is sent to Mixpanel.
BoardGameGeek usernames
You may enter BGG usernames to browse collections. These usernames are:
- Stored locally on your device
- Sent to the What Game You Bringing? server (
api.littleblur.com) to fetch collection data from BoardGameGeek - Synced across your devices via iCloud (if enabled)
BGG usernames are public information on boardgamegeek.com. The app does not verify whether a username belongs to you. The server has no way to correlate a username with a device or person. Usernames are never shared with third parties besides BoardGameGeek, where they are used to fetch your collection.
Lists and saved games
Games you save to lists are stored locally on your device and synced via iCloud (if iCloud is enabled on your device). This data never leaves your device and Apple’s iCloud infrastructure.
What the app does NOT collect
- Names, emails, or contact information
- Passwords or credentials
- Location data or IP addresses
- Advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking data
Third parties
| Service | What it receives | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Mixpanel | Anonymous feature-usage events | Analytics |
| Apple (iCloud/CloudKit) | Lists, saved games, BGG usernames | Device sync |
| BoardGameGeek (via their API) | BGG usernames | Fetching collection data |
No data is sold to or shared with any other parties.
Data retention and deletion
- Mixpanel analytics: Retained by Mixpanel per their retention policy. Because data is anonymous and not linked to any user, I cannot locate or delete analytics data for a specific person.
- Local data (lists, BGG usernames, preferences): Delete the app to remove all local data. If iCloud sync is enabled, also delete data from iCloud via Settings → Apple Account → iCloud → Manage Storage.
Children
The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app does not require an account or collect identifying information from any user.
International transfers
The app’s server is hosted in the United States. Mixpanel processes data in the United States. If you use the app from outside the US, your anonymous analytics data may be transferred to the US.
Your rights
You have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. Because the app does not collect personally identifiable information, there is no data associated with you that I can access or delete for you. You can:
- Opt out of analytics via the toggle in Settings
- Delete all local data by removing the app. iCloud data must be deleted separately via Settings → Apple Account → iCloud → Manage Storage.
Changes to this policy
I may update this policy and will change the date at the top. Material changes will be noted in the app’s release notes.
